first "discovered" Diana in 1977 a a City Opera Boheme;I could
NOT believe my ears...this was one of the greatest voices and greatest
artists I had ever seen.
I ran backstage like a nut and gushed and gushed....I sent her the
tape on Mar.19...which turned out to be her (and my ma's) birthday!!
This was the start of a close friendship that has lasted all these
years.....but aside from anything personal..I want you to hear for
yourself what she is all about..and what better time for that is now,in

our VERISMO festival..here,on Center Stage Forum, and on gmail.
The name of her album IS "Verismo," by the way. I hope you enjoy
Diana../one of the greats..(well,she started having good luck when
Tebaldi kissed her when she was a kid!!!)

I might suggest that Aprile Millo would certainly qualify as a great
verismo diva. In the past 3 years or so she has had tremendous success
as Adriana, Gioconda, Fanciulla, and Zaza.

Certainly she sings Tosca often, which is another verismo work, and
Chenier, and scenes from Cecelia. Yes, she is known as a Verdian
soprano, and she sings Verdi better than anyone today, but verismo has
been creeping into her repertoire, and she has scored "smash hits" in
every work mentioned above!

So she has my vote for the last great verismo diva!! And, BTW, she is
in constant touch with the great Olivero, who is a big fan of Millo's!
